What Spa Treatments Are Suitable For Adult Acne?

Blog

Adult acne can be a real bummer to deal with. After years of being told your acne would go away when you left your teenage years, it's still with you! Ultimately, working with a dermatologist is a good way to get rid of adult acne. But if you're visiting a spa, there are a few face treatments they can utilize to calm and treat your acne in the meantime.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is basically an intense exfoliating procedure. Your salon professional will use an abrasive tool, studded with sand or sometimes even tiny pieces of diamond, to abrade away the outer layers of your skin. This helps keep dead skin cells from clogging your pores and causing additional breakouts. It can also help loosen current blackheads and clogged pores.

Microdermabrasion should not hurt when you're having it performed, although your skin may be a little sensitive afterwards. Most salon care professionals will apply a soothing cream or gel to minimize discomfort and speed healing after microdermabrasion. You'll need to avoid the sun and harsh medicated skin products for a few days to a week after microdermabrasion.

Glycolic Peels

Glycolic peels involve your salon care professional applying a glycolic acid solution to your skin and leaving it there for a few minutes. The acid causes the outer layer of your skin to peel away, which reveals the softer, healthier skin underneath. It also helps kill acne-causing bacteria and loosen grime from clogged pores.

Glycolic acid peels do make your skin quite red and sore for about a week after treatment, so you'll want to schedule this facial treatment when you don't have anywhere too important to be for a while. The results can last a month or more, however, and having regular peels can really help keep your acne under control.

Clay Drawing Masks

If microdermabrasion and glycolic peels seem too intensive for you, then you may want to look into clay drawing masks. Your salon care professional will apply a mixture containing a specific type of clay to your face. This clay will be left in place, as a mask, for 10 or 20 minutes. As it sits, it will help draw the sebum and other impurities out of your pores. This will help heal current breakouts and prevent future ones.

Adult acne can be quite a pain to deal with. However, there are several facial treatments, like the ones above, that can help.

Learning About Dying Your Hair At The Salon

Hello, my name is Nina. Welcome to my site about having your hair dyed and styled at the salon. I started going gray at about 30 years of age. As the gray hairs overwhelmed my formerly gorgeous locks, I knew that I needed a quick solution. Unfortunately, the box hair dye products didn't always work well and the results did not last nearly long enough. I started to go to salons to rectify the problem and was instantly hooked. I will use this site to talk about the different dye products and techniques used in the salon. I will also talk about salon styles for your hair.
